The United States added 11 GW of new solar module manufacturing and 11.8 GW of new solar capacity in Q1 2024, per a new report.

According to data released by SEIA and Wood Mackenzie, more than half of all U.S. installations have come online since 2020.

Wood Mackenzie said it now expects the solar market to triple in size over the next five years.

Consulting firm Wood Mackenzie released analysis saying California’s newly proposed net metering tariffs would cut the state’s residential solar market in half by 2024.

Logistical challenges and price increases in the solar supply chain are expected to depress deployments next year, resulting in what could be a 7.4 GW (25%) decrease in solar installations for 2022 compared to previous forecasts. And, for the second quarter in a row, trade policy uncertainty and supply chain constraints are driving solar price increases across all market segments.
