Equinor breaks ground on marine terminal key to supporting offshore Empire Wind 1
Once completed, the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal will be one of the largest dedicated offshore wind hubs in the United States.
Empire Wind 1, Sunrise Wind finalize offtake agreements with NYSERDA
The two offshore wind projects, totaling over 1,700 MW, will be the largest power generation projects in New York State in over 35 years once they enter operation in 2026.
Empire Wind gets federal approval for construction and operation
Together these projects, located about 12 nautical miles (nm) south of Long Island, N.Y., and about 16.9 nm east of Long Branch, N.J., would have a total capacity of 2,076 MW.
Final contracts clear the way for nearly 2.5 GW of offshore wind
The offshore wind projects will likely spur additional investment and job creation.
